Remington VTR 700 / 204 Ruger accuracy issues

home sick

I have been working / playing with a 700 Rem VTR in 204 Ruger and found a couple things out, and am wondering if any one else has any info on this.

First this rifle will not shoot 40gr. bullets, my 1187 patterns better then then this thing groups with 40s. 32 gr V Max shoot sub 3/4" with a couple powders ( BLC2 and Bench Mark).

Just wondering if any one has a special load they would like to share.

Is there any easy fix for the trigger pull, besides a Timney?

What twist rate is the barrel? May not have a fast enough twist to stabilze the heavier bullets.

Sell the Rem and buy a Savage...Or just replace with a Timney or other quaility drop in trigger.

Thanks for the reply guys

I can only guess this is an early VTR with out an adjustable trigger, or it was replaced before I got it. I do like the Savage rifles but just haven't made the leap as of yet. So for now I'am just having a good time with what I have.
I will put a Timney in it, as I am sure that will help.
