Remington vs Benelli......

Hi folks!!

I´m going to by a new shootgun!!

And I´m considering one of these pump-actions:

The Benelli Nova

The Remington 870 Express

The 870 is a little bit cheaper, than the Nova, but how is the quality, shooting comfort and so on......?
 
i would go with the 870. i own two and i love them, they are very comfortable and easy to shoot and operate. but go with the one that fits you the best. have you shot either one of them before?
 
Remington 870. They are well proven, less expensive and accessories, if needed, will be easier to find.
 
Im also going to say 870,for reasons already mentioned!I will say their is nothing wrong with the benelli and its damn good lookin in tactical trim.

I think I will go for the 870! (More gun, for less money...)

Another question: I´m not used to the pump action at all! I have my shooting experience from the "Over´n under" and the "Side by side"!

Will it normaly take a lot of time and practice, before you can operate a pump-action well? ( I´m Norwegian, and over here there has not been a tradition for pumps, but I think I will give it a try...)

The 870 is the better choice. You can change stocks and alter the gun fit easily (not possible with the Benelli). The variety of accessories for the 870 is another selling point.

As to learning to operate the pump, just buy some shells and shoot it! Easy enough to learn.

don´t short troke it...

I own a 870 rem magnum express and don´t shoot it at all!
not because it is my cheapest gun but because, I always short stroke it!

keeps pulling me pranks all the time.

I would rather buy a Browning BPS. lot more expensive but doesn´t need an expert at the controls.

Short Cycle - When you fail to cycle the pump action completely[failing to pull back the forend all the way]. This can cause a jam that's very difficult to clear .Often done by those not totally familiar with pumps when under stress of a shoot out !!! :( :(
 
Tough choice

I have both, Buy the Nova. There is more flexibilty in the 870, but the Nova has up to 3 1/2 inch loads. If the factory recoil reducer is added it is a pleasure to shoot even with the strongest loads. Just my two cents. Rebel
