I like old movies and stuff, and through my browsing I came across this video made by Remington back in 1969. It goes into details bout the manufacturing and tools used back then, some of which I wouldn't be surprised if they are still used today. They go into a bit of detail about accuracy and look of the firearm and throw in some other interesting stuff, namely a brief segment advertising the 5mm Rem Magnum Rimfire and a segment on hand cut checkering and how each gun smith has a stamp he puts on the firearm he finalized and inspected. It's about 30 minutes long and doesn't go into extreme detail, but it's still pretty interesting, I thought, would be worth a watch if you have time.

Thanks for the link. I don't have time to watch the entire video at the moment, but will come back to it. The 1st couple of minutes looked interesting.

Thanks for the video.
It's not surprising how much individual hand work was done then.
But it very much is surprising how much of it was automated.
Some of the manufacturing involved computers, such as they were then.
Very interesting, for sure.

I enjoyed the video, thanks.
Just one point, if OSHA walked into a plant like that today they would be closed in 30 seconds flat. The fines would be massive. Slightly lacking in safety apparatus like open grinding machine and no safety glasses. And at the end, someone smoking. For shame.
I bet at least 500 people died there every year without OSHA telling them how to do something.

I need to look for others by different gun manufacturers just to compare the different companies at that time. If I find any I will link them here for further viewing.
