Remington Trigger Adjustment

A buddy of mine just bought a new Rem 700 in 300WSM. Its a new gun but it has the "old' trigger - the one before the X-Mark Pro.

Does anyone know how to adjust the trigger for pull weight?

Most people are probably going to say only a gunsmith should fiddle with a trigger but there are litterally NO qualified gunsmiths for a hundred miles around here (We are canadian and he might even have to try to cross the border...big hastle...to see a gunsmith in the US)
Therefor most people around here just learn to do things themselves, a trigger adjustment isn't rocket science...but it sure helps to understand how it works and what methods to use.
I would appreciate it if someone out there had some detailed information.

Thats great info, Thanks

If its really that easy there is almost no excuse Not to do this, hunting with a heavy trigger on the other hand..should almost be a crime.

Just for comparison, what is the difference between the "old trigger" and the new X-Mark Pro. A bunch of guys around here (southern Saskatchewan) have been telling me various stories of how one is better than the other....but which one is actually better seems a matter of opinion.

If you can read and follow simple instructions and are competent to turn three screws, and you have an I.Q. higher than that of an unborn rhinoceros, then you can easily adjust a Remington 700 trigger. :) I've done dozens of them; no tragedies yet! ;)
