Does anyone have one? how do you like them? does the auto action reduce the recoil quite a bit? I am thinking of getting one in that caliber. how accurate are they? thanks. sj

I have a 742K that I bought in like-new condition some 8-10 years back. With a K4, it shoots about one MOA at 100 yards. I've only put maybe 40 or 50 rounds through it, but I've had zero troubles. It might be a little picky about brand of ammo; at least it didn't like a WalMart special deal on Win. 150-grain Silvertips; but, neither did my pet bolt action, for that matter...

I'm not particularly sensitive to recoil. At any rate, it's certainly no worse than any other '06.

I have a 7400 carbine in 30-'06. Hunting accuracy is good, I'm the limiting factor with off hand or fencepost/tree supported shots. My rifle needs a clean, dry chamber to function. Autos are much dirtier than bolts and will have feeding problems if you let the chamber gum up. If you reload for these make sure you full length size and use middle of the road bullet weights and powders. I also have an 7600 carbine pump in 30-'06, recoil with same load is noticably sharper when target shooting. I don't notice the recoil from either one when hunting. During whitetail deer season my 7400 gets more use than all my other rifles combined, it's a handy package for woods hunting.
