Hello,
Came across a Remington Rand-refinished with mil cartouches-has Property USGovt on the frame, and 1911A1.looks old,but for someone who has no idea what to look for in these pistols-am asking your advice to make an informed decision. He is asking ~750 for it. looks like everything works, havent stripped it or asked to..exterior of barrel looks dark. Im smitten-though am lookingfor a FAL-1911 45s are a weakness-mil spec ones that is. SN on the frame 135xxxx. Did I mention its got that short lovely trigger? Thanks a lot, Alvin.:D

That's a bit much (maybe $100 over) in many parts for a refinished Rem-Rand, but a bird in the hand, as they say...

If it's been refinished by an arsenal (look for the mark on the frame, such as AA , Augusta Arsenal) then at least it's a military job. If not, then what the heck, buy it if you like it. A soft spot for 1911A1's is hardly a character defect.
Regional differences seem to be quite prominent - a 1911 that would sell briskly in CT at $1200 might languish on a shelf in TX for months at $950.

I sure do wish I'd forked over the plastic at times when I'd seen a piece I'd wanted. It's crushing to come back later and find it gone.

I`ve had one for 25 years. Paid $200 for it.

I know a guy who paid $25! Those were the days.

I`d say it`s a little expensive but the gun dealers will tell you they`re gold. RR was the most common of the WWII pistols. I wouldn`t pay more than $600. Then again, I have one.
