Thinking about picking up one of these two 1911s. Anyone have any experience with either or both? I heard the quality on the Remington's was spotty in the beginning, but have since been worked out.
I have a Remington R1 Enhanced and have had nothing but problems with it and Remington's customer Service. Jams caused by parts installed incorrectly at the factory, wrong parts sent for replacements, misfires, etc. I would not recommend Remington. I don't have the Ruger Night Watchman but I do have two Ruger 1911s and both are great values and have run flawlessly with no issues at all. Both have well over 2000 rounds through them. Also on the rare occasion when I did need to call Ruger Customer Service about other guns the were top notch and resolved any issues promptly. If it were me I would stay away from Remington and go with Ruger or Springfield.
My two Ruger 1911's (both sizes in .45) will feed anything I've tried in them. And both are superb for accuracy. If you're going to conceal carry with it, though, I'd recommend the alloy frame model for weight reduction. An all steel 1911 is a hellofa load after an 8 hour shift, let alone 24/7. JMHO, Rod
