I have either a Remington Beals 36 cal. or early 1861 Remington Navy 36 cal. passed down in the family.
I need a loading lever and hammer. The loading lever is missing and the hammer is broken where it strikes the cap. I installed several new springs and it now functions and is in reasonably good shape.
I bought a Remington loading lever from Dixie for 36 cal. Remington and it won't fit. The locking mechanism barrel is too short and the cylinder that loads the ball is too large in diameter. Could this be adapted by a good machinist?
The hammer I purchased is not quite right either.
Could the hammer be repaired? Is there any source of original repair parts other than Dixie?
Phil
