Remington Model 870 Troubleshooting Q's

Wingmaster87

GM Enthusiasts. Ive got a roughly 20 year old Wingmaster 870, That i've never had any real problems with other than standard cleaning issues. Active Duty so I move a lot, after a recent move upon inspection of breakdown to clean my gun, I found that the Left Shell Latch was loose. It looks as though the Latch was either Staked or spot welded. I really dont want to try to repair this without knowing exactly what my options are. Is this something that a gunsmith will have to do. or Can i aquire a "staking" tool. Anyways. Ive broken this gun down Many a time, and This is a first for me. Any Information will be greatly Appreciated. Thanks and Good Dove Hunting.

The latch is staked in place, but you could just stick it back and re-assemble.

I had this happen just once, a very good smith took all of 2 minutes to restake it and charged me nothing.
