I have a Remington Model 31 pump shotgun that I bought from a co-worker many years ago. He said it used to be his dad's gun. It has a small anchor embossed into the barrel near the base. Any ideas on what this might be?
Anyone? I've been told that this might be a US Navy boarding gun but it doesn't have a bayonet lug nor a heat shield. Just a small anchor embossed on the barrel near the base. Sorry for no pictures.
My 34 Remington does not have the anchor stamping. It was bought new in 1947. (My dad bought it for me when I was a whelp.) Serial number is 94***. It does not have the anchor stamp.
I remember the anchor stamp as a ""sillyvillian" marking though. Someone else needs to come up with a reference on this. I am very sure that it does not mean "US Navy issue".
