I got an old(dont know the year) Remington Model 1100 16 gauge shotgun. I am trying to figure out if this gun will shoot slugs? The barrel is not rifled. Do you think that i can shoot slugs with it? Thanks!

What is the choke on the barrel? I do not like to shoot slugs out anything tighter than mod but there are folks who will disagree.
How easy is it to find 16 ga. slugs?

There is no choke on the barrell. The barrell is how it came from the factory. I have some old 16 gauge slugs i found in my ammo box.

The choke on your gun is "fixed". There will be a mark on the left side of the barrel, near the receiver, that says mod or full or IC. How long is the barrel? In days of old, 30" would be "full", 28" would be "mod" 26" would be IC.

That means improved cylinder, which is open enough for use with slugs. I've seen 16 gauge slugs at my local gun store, but I doubt that Walmart or similar places would have them. Federal, Remington, and Lightfield make 16 gauge slugs, so you could order them.

I have an old Stevens 16ga double. Darn thing shoots both barrels to point of aim at 50 yards. I use Federal slugs (from Wallyworld). It makes for a real deer thumper. Works great on small game with shot, altho I've never patterned it.
