The Remington Model 11 is built from the John Browning A5 patent. Remington paid Browning for each Model 11 they made. It is a recoil operated gun that is very reliable and well made.

The Remington Model 1100 is of a different design and operates by using the powder gas to operate the ejection/load cycle. Just as reliable as the M11, but has a softer recoil.
 
bitttorrrent, the Remington model 11 is a recoil operated semi auto action shotgun made from a John Browning design, the Remington model 1100 is a gas operated semi auto action shotgun. They are two completely different animals and no parts will not interchange between the two models. Both are good shotguns but, I prefer anything that John Browning had his brain or hands involved in. The Remington model 11 is built very similar to the Browning/FN A-5 semi auto action shotgun. To look at a Remington model 11 and a Browning/FN A-5 setting side by side, a person would think they were the same shotgun. IMHO John Browning was the best gun designer ever, bar none. Sure would be nice to have another John Browning or someone of his caliber with his design abilities to come along now days instead of having computers coming up with gun designs in today's world.
