Is this a good price for the gun? It is in fine working order, it just needs to be re-blued.

It's a 20 guage by the way.

got it

I got it. It seems to have a shortened stock, I figure it would be a good starter for my 12 year old step son.It should handle recoil ok along with a recoil pad.

Does anyone know where I can find out how old it is?

What is the serial number on it and is it the sportsman version or the regular 5 shot? I have the serials all the way up to 1942.

Mine was made in 1930, first year for the 20 gauge model 11 still has the flat (square) recoil spring.

model 11

My gun was made in the 1940's and it's a sportsmans model. Are there any shells that I shouldn't use in such an old gun? I have never owned such an old shotgun. Again, it is a 20 guage.

Eddie, any lead shot load in a 2 3/4" case should be fine.

As with ALL older shotguns, a lookover by a competent smith is a must.

I inherited an old 11. A smith friend rebrazed the barrel ring and installed new springs and friction rings. One of my many cousins cherishes it now.
