Does anyone have any experience with these loads. i figured that they woyuld be great for home defense with the lower velocity (1200 fps)

wally world had 00 buck on clearance for $1.98 a five pack.

thanks

If you're talking about the Remington Law Enforcement Reduced Recoil 00 9 pellet Buck, it patterned horribly out of my 500A 20" Mossberg. It was all over the human sized sillouette (spelling?) target at only 7 yards. At 15 yards, I think some of the pellets were even off the paper. It was also really "dirty", as it had a lot of other stuff that came out and hit the target.

I then switched to the Federal Tactical and it worked better. IIRC, it was about a large hand sized patter at around 15 yards.

There's probably a reason why it's so cheap...

I've used some for training newbs. OK for the price. Same with the slugs, which go for around $2.50 per 5 pack at Sportsman's World here.

As said above, for tightest groups, I've found nothing better than Fed. Tactical.

OK but what range?

Those groups sound terrible, what choke if any did you have, and what kind of ranges are encountered in home defense, indoors anyway? Probably close enough for a snubbie, but the pumpgun is more decisive?
