Remington managed recoil 30.06

Anyone use these. I'd like to take my .06 out to shoot a little more than just hunting. The sad part is I ain't what I u'st to be.

Would the RMR loads allow me to shoot a box or two without beating me up like my hunting rounds do, 165 gr. They say half the recoil but....

Are you using a recoil pad? A good one will probably do wonders. Reduced loads do help as well, but you're accuracy may suffer from it unless you can manage to find one that works, or work up some of your own.

I'm just speaking from my limited experience. I tried various lighter loads on my .308, but some of them wouldn't hit the broad side of a barn as compared to the heavier 160gr+ varieties. I guess it'll ultimately depend on the rifle.

My brother got some kind of new type recoil device put on his 7mm.

The 7mm is worse thabn a 375 or 338 (have shot both, they light off slower, not nearly as nasty a smack as the 7mm which I owned at one time.

He says it tamed it to a zero issue.

Not sure what type, but it worked wonders, far better than the old rubber pads.

I've got a Limbsaver on my -06, and it took the sting out of it. Took the sting out of it to the point where I can shoot 30-40 rounds off the bench without issues. Prior to installing a good pad, I was only good for 10-15 round from the bench before I had enough.

The bench is the only place where the recoil bothers me. Shooting from a position doesn't give me nearly the perceived recoil that a bench gives me. One trick is to sit up as straight as possible at the bench, not "hunker" over the rifle.

I can't speak for the .30/06 flavor of Remington Managed Recoil ammo, but I had 3 boxes of that stuff in .260 Rem that performed wonderfully out of my Kimber 84M.

I was getting .75 - 1 MOA groups out of it. Barely felt the rifle move when fired, and for a 6.5lb rifle (scope and full magazine included) that's pretty good, IMO.

I haven't used the Remington reduced recoil ammo but I have used the Federal Fusion 165 gr. in my 30-06.

I can't guarantee the recoil was reduced by 1/2 (no machines to make the measurement with) but I can say they reduced the recoil substantially! I had a Remington 742 semi-auto in 30-06 that really loved them. With the old wood stock and foreend and of course Remington's famous steel butt plate of the 70's I could still feel some recoil. Due to a tree stand accident, I replaced the stock and forend with a Ramline composite stock that came with a nice recoil pad. Not sure who mfged the pad but it looked like a limbsaver. After that change, the 30-06 felt like my .243 win.

So, I have no doubt you could shoot 1 or 2 boxes without feeling any ill affects.
