Remington Competition Master

I purchased a Remington 1100 Competition Master last year with a 22" barrel. I really do love it and have found no flaws. What about the rest of you? Anything?

I have one...it is my favorite gun to shoot bar none! I really like the short barrel (22") with the vent rib...it is the most naturally pointing shotgun that I have ever owned.

Thanks for the reply....the Competition Master seems the best of all worlds....hunting....skeet shooting.....and even home defense. It has performed flawlessly for me and I really do enjoy it. :-)

I plan to take mine hunting in the fall...I bought a cap for it (so I can take off the magazine extention) and a plug...should be interesting. :D

I agree. Those CM1100's are sweet. I have a '79 1100 magnum that I've been converting to CM-specs. One of the lads over on THR has been very kind and given me the part numbers for many of the CM-specific and upgraded parts.
My own 1100 CM-clone has the CM lifter (which is very very cool) and a factory +3 extension (with clamp) and a 21" VR Skeet-choked barrel (or a +2 if I am using the 19" barrel). I have swapped out the older piston with the newer style, which I assume is standard on the CM.
All I need is a synthetic forestock and I'm pretty much done. It currently wears a straight English stock from a 12 Gauge Special Field. The looks are growing on me so I need to swap to plastic soon!
I only own one semi 12 gauge (not including Mrs. 9mmMike's 1100 Special Field in 20 ga.) and I am delighted with my 1100 x-magnum.
I still prefer my beloved 870's but this 1100 is a terrific thunder stick.
Mike

Another very happy 1100CM owner here. When I got my SX2 Practical I thought I liked it better than the 1100CM, but the 1100CM has won it's way back to favorite... partly because of the leaner stock/comb feel in the hand.

Ain't the 1100 CM pretty much a 3-gun competition rig or a home protection gun for the most part? Great gun (being an 1100 series how could it not be), but really not designed for Trap, Skeet or Sporting Clays competition with that short barrel that was really designed for fast movement and tactical aiming while on the run - more something that you might see strapped vertically next to the seat within your favorite LEO's squad car. Don't get me wrong, it certainly can be used in the clay sports, but the guy next to you with your same skill level and a decent 26" to 30" shotty is going to take top honors every time.

Does Remington even make this gun anymore? It's not presently listed on their web site like it used to be back when it came out a couple years ago...

Maybe for some, but I hit clay pigeons all day long with the 22" bbl. To each his own.
