Remington Commander Carry

Well I am still getting loose grips on my Rem Commander Carry even after shooting 1 box of 50 shells. Manager of the range suggested putting clear nail polish on the screws to prevent them from coming loose. But in other postings I have found where members might suggest rubber O rings. Which is better?

I agree with JWT. If you bought the pistol new, send it to Remington on their dime for postage both ways. They will have your pistol back to you within 7 days.

I'd be hesitant to send it back for a grip screw. You never know how long they will have it or what will happen in between. While I've never used nail polish, BLUE loctite works great.

If you make it difficult to remove the grip screws you might back out the bushings they screw into.
Agreed and seconded. Make sure the bushings are staked before adding anything to the screws.

Well after all of these answers I guess Blue Locktite is best so I don't have to keep tightening grips after each session at the range. I really like the pistol but the added recoil I assume shakes the gun so much the screws get somewhat loose.

Not knowing about Locktite how long after putting the Locktite on without the mag does it dry so I can fire it again?

I fall into the nail polish camp...easily removed if it doesn't work, a dab on the final threads and they should stay put. This was a standard fix for film cameras with motor drives years ago, the things would always vibrate out screws. Clear polish over the tops of screws solved all the problems.

O rings

I purchased #60 rubber O rings and I am going to try that first. Placed them on all 4 screws and I hope it works rather than putting polish or Loktite on the pistol. I will take it out today or Monday and let you know if that works.

Grip screws on my Ruger CMD would loosen every trip to the range . I kept snugging them down(not real tight) and now they stay tight. If you get them too tight you'll have trouble getting them off later on. I found this out on a Colt years ago. The o-rings may work.

grip screws

Normally you'd be looking at the cause of the problem and try to rectify that
rather than insert foreign objects to mask it.
Say you tighten them like they're supposed to be and still they rattle loose.
these screws are: .150-50 UNS
.150" in diameter +0 -.004",50 pitch.
Measure it,if the diameter is out of specs then replace them.
The P.D is another issue if it's small no amount of torquing will work but that
is not likely to be it.You need an indicator to measure that anyway.
The stock was designed to be fastened to the frame with for simple screws
and nothing else, sometimes expediency rules it's your piece.

Personally, I would locate a thin blade hollow ground screw driver, back the bushings out and red locktite those and then blue locktite the screws (or rubber cement).

Can't argue with success.
Wasn't an O ring failure on the right rocket booster that caused the
Challenger space shuttle to break up on take off?
Them O rings you never know.

"... send it to Remington on their dime for postage both ways..." Yep. You paid for a warrantee. You should have to do anything but a trigger job.
"...how long after putting the Locktite on..." About a minute. Lock-tite doesn't go on in gobs. You use very little on the screw threads only.
