Remington build date

I picked up a nice model 12 22LR with seriel# 499714 Looks like G letter on the left side of barrel by the receiver. terry

This may help. The G looks like it might be 1938, 1960, 1986, or 2009. There should be another letter indicating the month.

Well, since the model 12 was produced in the 1930s, that pretty well narrows it down.

I have been told by the seriel number it was a 1920 build. terry I believe they were only built till 1936

I think the 1920 date should be about correct. My serial number on my 12c is 307xxx and it was built in 1915. They are great shooters. Just remember to use Standard Vel. ammo in them, cause the bolts weren't designed for high vel. The locking lug will shear off after a while.
