Whats the problem with this shotgun? Everyone says its a POS but no one explains, or when they do it's "my friend said". What are the problems with it? Its because I'm looking for a new shotgun and I keep getting thrown in different directions on what one to buy. Maybe you guys can help me out.

These are the musts:
Shoots 3.5" shells
Durable
In MAX 4 camo
And in the same price range as benelli nova and Remington 887 nitro mag.

It really doesn't matter to me if the hand guard wobbles or anything.

Please please please help my decide
 
DO NOT BUY IT!!!!! Do the smallest amount of searching and you will find that aside from having a rough and bulky action, parts actually break on this. The trigger has had reports of all sorts of parts breaking. They copied the Nova so poorly that the product really can't be good for much. I highly recommend a Nova, SuperNova or even a P350 over the Nitromag.

I bought one for my son last Christmas and it has been flawless. He has hunted duck, rabbit, dove and sqirrels with it. We shoot clays just about every weekend and have over 3000 shell through it without a single problem. The action was stiff at first but it has smoothed out nicely. A guide we use for rabbit hunting in the marshes of Louisiana uses a 887 and actually leaves the gun in his boat 24/7 and occasionally wipes it down with WD 40, He has had no issues with the 887 either. I do know that the first year production guns had problems, but it seems Remington has worked out these issues. A lot of peopl bad mouth the gun but I wonder how many of these people have actually owned one. I would rather take advise from people who owned and use a gun that people who rely on heresay for their comments.
 
My girlfriend won an 887 at a DU banquet last summer and told me I could use it any time I wanted......(I paid for the raffle tickets....) Anyway, I cleaned all the manufacturers preservative out of it and took it to the trap range before duck season to try it out and noticed the sight line on the receiver was straight, and the rib on the barrel was straight, but not straight together. The action required a pretty hard shove to close and lock on the shell, which may smooth out over time, but in the duck blind, I don't want to have to remember to close it hard or miss a shot. It didn't seem to have a consistent point of aim, as I would hit one bird, and then miss the next with the same poa. (That COULD be operator error or poor fit, but it happened several times). It seems to be a bit wobbly and loose oon the pump forened as others have reported, and my instincts said "cheap" after handling it. It's the only 3.5" gun I have, but don't intend on buying more than 3" shells anyway, so IMHO, I'm glad I didn't pay for it, and would have preferred an 870 or a Nova. It will be trade bait for my new skeet gun......someday! (Likely won't get much for it, but it only cost me a hundred bucks in raffle tickets.
 
I don't own it because I did my research, held many different samples, talked with other members of the shotgun community, and found the copy unfit for my use. Compare it side by side to the Nova and it loses.
 
After looking at several of your post ,I'm guessing like a lot of others , you are strictly a Benneli fan and no other gun is worth nothing compared to a Benneli. They are good guns, I have a Super Black Eagle myself and even though it is a good gun I don't think it is worth what I paid for it. But I had to jump on the Benneli bandwagon like most others. In hind sight ,I wish I had of bought something else. I still would rather shoot my old 870. The Nova is not as good as the Super Black Eagle but yet you carry it so high! Oh well I guess each to his own.
 
Just one look in the gunstore, and I'd run from that gun. I wouldn't use it if someone gave me one. I don't understand how anyone could compare the 887 side by side with ANY other pump and still buy it.
 
If you're talking me I'm Not a benelli fan, at all really. I was just leaning towards that cause everyone said it was worth it. I'm a Remington guy. But I want all the stuff listed above and I've only heard about the 887 and nova and everyone says 887 is horrible. It's really 50/50 on if you like it or not.
