I have a Remington 870 that has so far not been used much. It is just kind of there. Its been bird hunting alot, but thats not my kind of thing anyways. I want to make it a tactical/ riot gun style shotgun. I try to have a Firearm for each category (hunting, sniper, sharpshooter, tactical, fun, ect) I Cannot find anything to do produce said effect. No stocks, or anything. A bayonette is something I can do myself but stocks are something someone else will have to sell me.
 
Installing a pair of ghost ring sights will automatically make a 870 tactical looking, no matter what kind of furniture it has.
 
You can order a short (18" - 20") barrel with the ghost rings. I'm not sure what "look" you want, but loaded with buck, it's the real thing.
 
Not sure I understand the OP. There are very few firearms, especially shotguns, that have as many factory and after-market accessories available for it as the Remington 870. There are suppliers for tactical accessories, including stocks, virtually everywhere on the web. Just do some searching.
 
870s have more accessories than Barbie.

Of course, the first thing you buy is ammo, then the second thing you buy is more ammo....

I have the knoxx spec ops stock. Reduces recoil alot. I don't know how you said you didn't find any stocks for the 870, theres alot.
 
Get yourself an 18" Remington 870 cylinder bore barrel and maybe a different stock and you got yourself a riot style shotgun. If you're comfortable with the factory stock, then all you really need is the barrel.

Dave is correct that the best purchase you can make is ammo- buy it, use it up, repeat. Even just shooting skeet or trap with the thing will help you become very familiar with how it handles as well as improve your accuracy- if you can hit a small disc moving at a decent speed, other larger and slower targets won't be a problem.

That said, you may still want to outfit the thing so it suits your purposes. A shorter barrel will help you maneuver it though your home. A magazine extension will hold more ammo (depending on the 870 you have, you may need to drill out some detents on the stock tube). The right stock can reduce recoil or provide better fit. But you're better off practicing and shooting with it than putting on all kinds of accessories (funky sights or optics, strike bezels, etc.) right off the bat.
 
All of the gadgets and toys do nothing to improve performance of the gun and everything to hamper the performance of the shooter. When you change the dynamics to one that is extremely muzzle heavy,it becomes more difficult to shoot easily and accurately.

That's pretty much all you need for a "tactical" look. You can consider a sidesaddle shell holder, but the stock I listed above already holds shells.

A stock that holds shells or shell holder shouldn't really be installed with the intention of increasing capacity. It should be installed with the intention of giving you options, i.e. slugs, less lethal shots, etc. And since you mentioned riot/tactical, that seems appropriate.

Foreends with flashlights can be considered. But if you're not a specialist or planning to use this against well trained terrorists, $300+ may not be worth it. There are other options for attaching a flashlight to a shotgun, look around the forum.

All the options I mentioned above are optional, and you really don't need any of them to make your gun tactical. But if you want that special style/appearance, the items I mentioned above should do it.

Might i suggest that given your useage of it being limited, going without the heat sheild? Most people hardly ever put that many rounds through it at once to heat up that thick shotgun barrel to the pointing of needing a shield.

it would just mess with sight picture and add unnecessary weight
 
If I were doing just for looks I would get the following:
Mossberg 870 Breacher barrel
Mesa High Tube adapter with 6rd side saddle, Vltor EMOD, and Magpul MIAD
Aimpoint T1 on Larue mount
Vang Comp +2
Surefire 618LFG
Vang Comp Big Head Safety
