Can anyone tell me what the Remington serial number means? I'm pretty sure that if the last digit is "M" it means the gun will take magnum rounds...but what do the other digits mean? Thanks in advance
Actually...the first character in your serial number (assuming that it's a letter) is just an internal designation for a range of years. The number are just sequential. The last digit does denote the gauge/chambering of the shotgun...V=12 ga 2 3/4"...M=12 ga 3"...A=12 ga 3 1/2" etc. The M suffix in your serial number means that your receiver is equipped to handle 2 3/4 and 3" 12 gauge shells.
