Remington 870 Police Magnum?

A gun shop owner has a few of these "tubes" in stock for a price of $380 a pop. They come with wood furniture and factory extended 7 shot magazines. He noted that these are very hard to come by since Remington does not allow these to be sold to civilians. Is this true or was he making an irresistable sales pitch? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Pete,

It's more like they can only be carried by certian dealers. There is no restriction I know of against buying one. The big difference is that the Police models don't have any crmp in the Mag tube so you can easily extend mag capacity.

Hi Everyone-

The Remington 870 Police Magnum has no restrictions on it. It can be purchased by L.E. or private citizen alike.

Sights tend to be a bit nicer from the factory and has a parkerized finish.

I bought the HD, then replaced the barrel with the 18" rifle sighted police model for $145. Someone mentioned that the police model has been given extra quality assurance steps, but this seems moot on the 870 (and the police barrel doesn't seem as nice cosmetically-- some parts aren't parkerized and the brazing is visible). The trigger guard is aluminum on the police, but this should wear worse than polymer (like the handle of a benchmade knife-- always scratching the finish off). This leaves removing the dimples ($25) and putting on the nicer (and flush with the barrel) scattergun extension ($40-45). This should bring you in about equal $wise, but with a nicer look and w/o the hassel of having to look for a dealer that sells to civilians.
