Remington 870 - Mag tube

I just purchased a 870 with a 20" barrel. Rifle sights and Parkerized finish. I want to put an extended magazine tube on it. How do I remove the spring retainer (inside the mag tube, under the screw-off cap)? This one does NOT have the retaining dimples in the tube, so I'm guessing it is a police/military version?

I found the answer.

For future reference, the retainer on this version is pressed in. Reminton said you need to get under it and it will wiggle out when rocked and pulled. They use a special cone shaped tool.

I applied oil to lubrivate then I used a bolt with a head that would just slip through the slot and under the retainer. I then put a washer and nut on the other (top) side and gently rocked it and pulled until it slipped out. Total time about 2 minutes.
