Remington 870 EX or 870 EXP?

I'm looking to pick up a cheap shotgun and I can't decide between the
Remington 870 EX Express Magnum and the
Remington 870 EXP Express Super Magnum

what is the difference between the Magnum and the Super Magnum? Is the super worth the extra money? is there anyone who has shot both, if so can you tell me which would be better (or at least the best for the price) for shooting skeet? I highly doubt I'm ever going to do any deer hunting with this gun so...
 
The Super Magnum will shoot 3.5" loads, which you definatly do not need for skeet. Or are even allowed to shoot. And they kick like a Mac truck. They are a bit heavier than the Express Magnum. Even for hunting 3.5" is not necessary most of the time. Go with the Express Magnum. Can't be beat except by the Wingmaster...

My first few 870's were Express Magnums that I bought used. They are decent guns. In fact, my slickest running gun is one of the Express models that I lend to friends when we shoot.
The quality control, especially with regards to the fit/finish work, on the newer ones is not the greatest but mostly it's a matter of shooting a ton until they smooth up.
I have a buddy with whom I work that we introduced (my loaner gun again) to shooting a couple years ago. He bought a brand new Express and it gets nicer every time we shoot, which is quite often now. It still has the ugly (in my opinion) Express "hardwood" on it but he really loves it.

I think I'm going with the synthetic instead of the wood. Like you said the wood on low end guns doesn't look great, and I don't feel like taking the precautions to keep the wood from getting beat up, ya know. Maybe one day I'll have the extra cash for a high end shotgun and then I'll go with wood and baby it, but for now synthetic makes sense.
