Remington 870 disconnector

Is there a (safe) way to remove or disable the disconnector in the 870? I'd like to add a shotgun to my store for added security, but I want to hang on to the trigger and dump the magazine like the old Win 97's & 12's if I have to.

Since the Hurricane Katrina evacuation of New Orleans, I've had some trouble with import punks trying to get pushy up here in Shreveport. I'd like something a little more impressive than the .45. Hope & pray that I never need them.

Although it's possible a modification could be invented, there is no such mod available.

No reputable gunsmith would touch such a job, due to safety and liability concerns.
Plus, due to the design, if the disconnecter isn't functioning, the 870 won't lock up.
This means the gun would fire in an UNLOCKED condition.
This would be extremely dangerous, and would wreck the gun quickly.

The 870 was specifically designed to prevent disabling the disconnecter.

You can shoot just as fast by simply practicing.

In the real world, slam-firing a shotgun is dangerous, and ineffective.
This is something you see in Hollywood movies.
In the real world you miss the target and waste ammo.

Just when you need it most, the magazine is empty.

Bottom line: Practice. The fastest shotgunners in the world all use shotguns with disconnectors.

I was afraid it would be something like that. OTOH, instead of buying another scattergun, I can always bring in the Win 97 that normally hides in the bedroom closet. Did I just talk myself out of buying another gun? <slap, slap>

Problem solved

I picked up an Ithica model 37, 20 1/2 barrel, mag holds 7 shells. Not preaty but it works, $200. It's an earlier one without the disconnector like I want.
