Remington 870 and it's "fixed cylinder choke"...

I was reading about the Remington 870 and noted that it has a
"fixed cylinder choke"...

I am guessing that this means that there is only one fixed, choke option, that you can't select from various chokes.

Considering that my local, indoor range will only allow you to fire
"low recoil slugs", does this make any difference I should know about,
as far as selcting ammo for the range?

Most of the newer Remmies come with screw in chokes. Alot of the riot/hd guns come with 18" Cylinder bores though. You can get them with fixed or screw in chokes, or rifled barrels. Cylinder usually does pretty well with slugs from my experience. My old 870 Wingmaster would group 2.5" or so at 50 yds with regular old Wally World special 1oz slugs.

I believe the Express versions of Remington defense shotguns still come with cylinder bore fixed chokes, but the 870 Police comes with a fixed improved cylinder choke.
