Remington 798 Rating

I bought several Zastava M-98 type actions over the years. All were straight, true, and square when checked by the gunsmith who barreled them. There are lighter actions suitable for 243 but that wouldn't disqualify the rifle for most uses. I only have(had) two factory barreled action from Zastava and both were accurate enough for hunting: 1-1.5" @ 100 yards.

Generally a pretty decent rifle. They have been imported and sold under several different names over the years. The Remington stamped rifles were a little less refined and poorly finished. But the design is rock solid.

They are the type of rifle better suited to larger calibers and a popular option for DG hunting. Usually not tack drivers, but acceptable for most hunting.

Personally I'd take it over a Remmy or Savage any day and twice on Sunday, but I'm in the camp that prefers a controlled round feed action.

I've had FN's and Zastava's and can't tell the difference.
