I know a guy who has a Remington 788 in .222 for sale for $275. It was won in a raffle in 1967 and has NEVER been fired. Is this a good price?? Thanks for the help!!

It isn't grand theft, but it is a good price if you like the 788. They are rugged and reliable, but the action is not to everyone's taste.

I recently bought a 788 in 22-250 and I'm real happy with it. Unlike the 700 the trigger is not adjustable but after I floated the barrel I ended up with quite a tack driver. Canjar makes a spendy trigger for it and I've aIso talked to a smith that says he can modify the existing trigger to be adjustable. I'd buy it. Clint
