I've been looking at a used remington 7600 in 35 wheland for an all around hunting rifle, it seems solid and has a good feel to it, but how wel does the gun in general perform. what kind of accuracy is this platform capable of?
Would it be reliable, or fragile?

I really like my 760 in 30-06. The completely free-floated bbl can be very accurate as a bolt gun. Rapid fire is just that - I think quicker than a semi-auto, once you get the hang of the pump. YMMV

Only thing I don't care for on the pump is the slide makes noise from time-to-time. Can be a hassle when doing the sneak in dark timber - close & personal-like.

I like the 7600 and the .35 Whelan is a good cartridge. The gun looks a little fragile, but believe me, it is not. The only drawback is that if I went some remote area, I would bring all the ammo I might need, as the .35 Whelan might not be available at the crossroads store.

Also, you might want to shoot it before buying, if possible. The .35 Whelan is no .375, but it isn't a .35 Remington either. It kicks in that light rifle.
