Remington 742 dissembly

How do I take this down? I have one to clean for a friend, with no manual. Also, anywhere that can tell me details on this rifle? Do I use grease or oil on the bolt?

Well, I went partway into mine, and decided it was more trouble than it was worth.

Remove the magazine, check the chamber, and cock the hammer. Tap out the two pins which retain the trigger group. Then, just spray around inside the action with brake cleaner, and use an old toothbrush on whatever you can reach. When you've gotten to the point where more brake cleaner doesn't wash out any more "grunge", let it dry for a few minutes and then spray the innards with some gun oil--but lightly. Wipe down inside and then replace the trigger group.

Hope this helps,
