Remington 7400?

In the eyes of the beholder !!!

If it is as you say, it is a good deal but not privy to your circumstances. Make sure it cycles well and doesn't hang up. .... ;)

Be Safe !!!

Not a problem in reselling

At this point in time, I'd prefer the .270 over a .243 or 30-06. Look at it this way, you will never lose money on it and make some to boot. Buy it and sell it if it at your leisure ..... ;)

Be Safe !!!

If the rifle cycles ok that seems to be a heck of a deal. Years ago I had a 7400 in 30.06. I killed 4 or 5 deer with it before I traded it for my Browning Safari.

Generally the 7400 is a good rifle. Much better than the older 742 guns. But, I have seen a couple of bad 74, 7400's in my shop. I had a couple show up with barrels that were way out of center with the receiver. Had 1 that would jam every now and again on a guy and I could find nothing wrong with it. after Remington tried to fix it twice and it still wasnt 100 percent, the guy sold it. Hopefully, the 200 dollar one is not cheap because of a bad history as some are floating around like that.

Most of the Remington autoloaders were good shooters. Their problem is the very weak extractor that is prone to break. You absolutely must keep the chamber clean. That means buying or making a good chamber brush and using it frequently. If you do that, there is less chance of a shell sticking which is what tends to break that weak extractor.

So I bought it, cleaned it real good and I WAS going to sell it... But it grew on me so fast. Im going to shoot it soon and tell everyone how bad of a shot I am.
