Remington 7400 question

I have a 22" barrel remmy 7400, that I want to have cut down to 18 1/2".
Remington sells a gun with this length barrel, but my concern is if the port size might be different.
Does anyone have any idea about this?

In your post you said, "have cut down." I guess this means it's not a job you would do yourself. If that's the case, the smith who handles the job should know. That's a really good question though. I never would have thought to ask it.
 
Remmy advises port sizes are different

If anyone was following this thread, remington finally got back to me via email, and advises that the port sizes are different on the 22" and the 18 1/2" models.
 
I think so, but I talked to a smith about it, and he said that they could be hard to get to.
I realize it was'nt much of a thread, but I wanted to give the update if anyone had been lurking.
