Remington 7400 battle rifle ?

How come no one has ever come out with 10+ rounders for the Remington 7400 ? With a more aggressive set of stocks and larger capacity mags you would think it would give competition to the FAL's and M1a's ?

If I had to chance a guess...

There are plenty of FALs, AR-10s, M1As, and G3s on the market to cover the battle rifle field.

The Rem 7400 was designed as a sporting rifle. I doubt it's as rugged as a well-made example of any of the above.

Besides, Remington doesn't want to maket something as un-PC as a military style rifle.

cuerno de chivo, my 742 does so quite easily.

My Field First Sergeant, in basic training with the Garand in 1954, showed me his trick from Korea: At some point after a number of clip-loads, he'd liberally slop a good bit of GI gun oil into the action.

Apparently I was one of the few who paid attention. Other guys' rifles would start crudding up and fail to feed. And I got to shoot up all their ammo! :D

FWIW, Art

I looked into them when trying to replace Mini14. Reliability isn't all that great, barrels heat up fast and the tiny ejection port and bolt handle meake jam-clearing tough...or so people told me.
