A friend received in trade an old rechambered Remington 722 with a barrel that needs to be removed, as it is trashed (wrecked muzzle, bubba gunsmithing crown job, rechambered from .222 to .243, and a rusty bore to top it all off). It obviously has the .243/.308 bolt now, and he'd like to rebarrel it to .308, as the rest of the action and bolt appear to be in decent shape, and the wood is really, really nice.
Can a regular Model 700 barrel wrench/action block (say the Wheeler models from Midway) be used on the 722 to remove this awful barrel?
