Remington 700 ???

I have a older late 70's early 80's production rem 700 long action in 7mm mag that I would like to re-barrel with a new un-fired take-off rem 700 sendero bull barrel in 300 win mag, does anyone know if the action's have changed any in the 700 series? I would think the new barrel should just screw right in and at most require a slight chamber ream to head space.

And if the headspace turns out to be too long?

Good point Jim, If it's not TOO long I could have a smith set back the barrel a bit and the ream to head space with out to much trouble I would think,That's why I asked the question,I am not sure how much if any the overall specs of the barrels and actions have changed over the years. My newest 700 is a PSS short action so no joy in comparing the two,the rest are all long action at least 15 years old.

Why not just put a Hart or Shilen match grade barrel on?
