Remington 700 Youth Sites

My daughter and I are less than impressed with the factory sites on her new Remington Model 700 ADL Youth Synthetic rifle. Besides a conventionally mounted scope, do you have any suggestions for something better? Will I need to have a gunsmith install new sites or is this a task I can undertake? I'm not willing to attempt drilling and tapping new screw holes, but I can run a screwdriver and punch.
