I’m looking at buying a bolt action rifle in 270. I narrowed it down to one of these three. All are well known. All are about the same price. My question is whether anyone ever been dissatisfied? I’m also looking for any comments concerning one of these three rifles.
thanks for any help

I like all three of them and all are about even in terms of price, quality, accuracy, etc. but I like the look of Winchester Featherweight the best. Winchester Featherweight in 6.5x55 Swedish is my favorite hunting rifle.

My Dad has a Ruger M77 .270 that is an excellent rifle (he calls her the "Meatstick"), that he's been hunting with for 15 years or so. My brother bought an M77 Mark II last year, and it is just not the same quality rifle as Dad's. Fit and finish not as nice, safety is different.
One of my huntin' buddies recently bought a Winchester 70, and while a very nice rifle, the stock "feels" weird. I think the pistol-grip is too thin, and feels "wimpy". A different stock and I'd have probably wrestled him for it. Super-nice action.

But, I'm a BIG Remington fan. My deer gun is a Rem 721 (predecesor to 700) in .270, that's been hunting for over 40 years (belonged to a great-uncle). Accurate as can be, and just feels right. As you may be able to tell "feel" of a gun goes a long way with me. I also have a 700 varmit rifle in 22-250 that is a true tack driver. Anything you could possibly want in a rifle, you should be able to find in a Rem 700. Especially since they are the most popular model centerfire bolt guns made, with aftermarket options out the wazoo.

Beside, I work in the computer field, where things change daily, often for no other reason than to drive folks to buy "Upgrades". I truly respect a company that builds a quality product, and sticks with it for 30+ years.

Of the three that you mentioned, you'll be able to adjust the Rem. trigger better than the other two. The Rem. 700 is just plain hard to beat. There'll be others who'll feel exactly the same way about Winchesters and Rugers. (I looked at Rugers when I started shopping for a varmint rifle. Thought the trigger was pretty rough and the action not nearly as slick as a Rem.) There's no creep adjustment on the Win. trigger, which is a bummer for me.

JMCBANG, I have it narrowed down to the REM 700 and WIN 70. Both have pros and cons.We could probably start a discussion that could last for months on these 2. The pre 64 action in the WIN is one of the smoothest operating bolt guns I have shot and it has a 3 postion safety.I think the safety on the WIN is easier to operate and smoother. With the pre 64 action you have the claw type bolt that takes hold of the rifle shell for positive feeding. The REM does not have that as far as I know.I do own more REMS than WINS and they are both great rifles.I have not shot the WINS enough to determine which one is more accurate. You would not go wrong with either rifle. Good luck and happy blasting...................................

My dad has a ruger m77 in 243 and it is the most accurate out the box rifle I've ever seen.My grandfather has a remington model 70 in 270 and it is a good rifle but not as nice as the ruger.I'd go with the ruger I killed my first deer with that rifle.
