In 2006 Remington replaced the old trigger design they had used since 1946 with one less likely to fire with no trigger pull. They are recalling all of those made up until April 2014 because there is the possibility adhesive dripped into the trigger during assembly.
Remington recently announced they would recall ALL rifles made1946-2006 to replace those triggers too. This is not official yet. It is part of a settlement from numerous lawsuits and the details have to be approved by a judge.
I wouldn't send them my gun to have new lawyer lever put on. I would take a $50 to go toward a trigger of my choice though. Of course that will never happen.
I've always known that my old seventies vintage 700 in 222 was a very dangerous, death trap of a weapon. Many thousands of ground squirrels, rock chucks, coyotes, and a few deer could agree. jd
The problem with the 700 and 600 and others using this trigger is tightening the bedding screws can make the trigger not cock or release right after cocking or banging on the stock etc. My 600 requires careful torquing and not over tightning the main screw or the trigger guard screw. They should have put bedding pillars around the crews to the action. The screws can exert enough pressure to bend the action downward at the screw loacations enough to get the trigger on the edge or over.
I like the jewel trigger, I have ben looking online and every one seems to be sold out of them , don't think I would buy the gun unless I can get a trigger for it.
