Greetings! Thanks for taking the time to read my thread. I am a rare visitor to this part of the forums, but please forgive any faux pas I might slip. I have a Reminton 700 pss 26 inch barrel, and was wondering if there is a site I might be able to gather more info thru the serial # G66024XX. I am trying to determine the rifle twist rate, I have tried measuring the turn of my cleaning rod with a tight patch and it shows 1 in 9, but sometimes it shows closer to 1 in 10. Its a great rifle and would like to know more facts about it. Thanks!

Measuring your gun with a rod is the best info you can get. Push the rod slowly so you dont get any slip and it should give the same reading each time.

Guess I have a lot to learn about the patch method of gauging twist, Remington says its a 1 in 12. Thanks much for the replies.

Thats a Great rifle, the 700P comes with a HS Precision Stock. 168 gr bullet is made to order for your twist 1-12 I think the newest 700P are using a 1-10 twist I like the 1-12 better. Good luck with the rifle.

I believe the PSS is the same action/barrel as my Varmint which is also a 12 twist. My 1-12 preferred bullet is the 168 SMK, and a close second is 155 SMK's or 155 Nosler CC's

The 168 smk is the best round I have found for the 1/12 twist for under 600 yard shots beyond that the 175 smk shine!!! Supper nice rifle!! I have the same one with a timmny 517 trigger Seekins precision 20moa base with Seekins rings and an SWFA 16x42 optic! They are 1200 yard rifles!! Enjoy it for years to come
