Remington 700 PSS or LTR?

These are getting real hard to find (esp. in Calif). A local dealer has one of each in .308 (first he's had in quite a while). I can only afford one or I would get both. The question is which. Will just be used for range shooting out to 200 yds. But I am concerned with which one will more valuable in the future. Any opinions?

Guns are tools and not investments. Buy a particular model because you like it. Not because you are speculating on whether a model is going to increase in value. Both are good solid firearms. Outside the People's Republic, these rifles are a dime a dozen and not difficult to acquire.

I don't know where you are, but it took me 2 months of waiting to get my PSS .308 in. .223's and .300 WM seems to be fairly common, but I couldn't find any place that had them in .308. The LTR seemed to be much easier to find, but I still had to call around quite a bit before someone said they had those. I ended up getting my PSS from gunfinder.net. Not the greatest service in the world, but they seemed to have the shortest waiting list on the PSS .308.

I have a PSS and I am very happy with it. It's a great rifle. That being said, I had the opportunity to do some shooting with an LTR at Thunder Ranch in October. I shot it out to 700 yds and had no problem hitting what I was aiming at. The LTR is a great rifle and if I had it to do over again I would probably chose the LTR over the PSS. It is much handier than the PSS and just as accurate.
Reminton has had so many problems with the detatchable mag models that they have stopped making them. (in the PSS and the LTR that is) If either of those rifles is a DM model you may want to keep that in mind.
You will be happy with either one but since you will only be shooting out to 200 I think you will be happier with the LTR.

What does "hinged floorplate" mean on an LTR?

Does anyone know what the unloaded weight of an LTR in 308 is without optics, sling etc.

Thanks

Hinged floorplate is the mechanism by which rounds are fed to the chamber - a sort of non-detachable magazine.

I picked up an LTR this morning. It weighs in at 7.5 lb on my bathroom scale with no accessories.
