Remington 700 Police Ultra Mag

I just bought a 700 Police in 300 UltraMag today. Will be mounting a 6X42 Leupold in Burris Dual Dovetail Posi-Line Rings. I was looking for a hunting rifle with a little extra accuracy for longer range shots at large deer and a possible elk hunt next fall. I left it at the shop to have the scope mounted when it comes in so I don't have any of the paper work on it. Is the synthetic stock pillar bedded? What kind of accuracy should I expect? The factory ammo lists MV at 3300 with the 180gr Partition bullets, is that just hype or a realistic figure form the 26" barrel? Any suggestions or experience welcomed!!! Stubby

Kinda begs the question about what law enforcement agencies are doing with that monster magnum, when historically their engagement distances seldom exceed 100 yards. Maybe it's because of the body-armored Hollywood bank robbers, they want more penetration? Or are there other factors, like windshields, store windows, etc? Not to complain, my own .308 PSS has been a total sweetheart.

If you have a PSS, Sendaro, etc., with the H-S Precision Stock, then it has an aluminum bedding block, which is generally superior to pillar bedding. Accuracy should be excellent, probably in .5 m.o.a. range.
