remington 700 front sight

Easy! Tap the front blade out with a brass punch. That will expose a second screw. Remove it and the original screw that was visible. Now just plug your holes with a couple of screw plugs.
 
While looking at the rifle in a normal firing position (barrel away from you & sights upwards), the sight should be driven out towards the left. The dovetail is tapered & other than having to really beat the thing out, it will ruin it for future reinstallation.
