Remington 700 date?

I have a Remington 700 ADL 30/06 (no floor plate) and I would like to figure out its age.
On the left side is stamped with DC 58.

Serial #B640****.

I have looked at the chart on Remington sight and from what I can tell it was made in Sept 1958.

I bought the gun used about 5 years ago and have no idea of its history. It is in very good condition and I find it hard to believe it is that old.

As long as the barrel is original there is a date code stamped on it. Go here and you can decipher the code for month and year.

I don't think 700's were made in 1958. Remington did not stamp barrels for about 2 years spanning part of 1999 into part of 2001. This is pretty accurate as long as no one has changed barrels.

Yea, 700's weren't introduced until 1962. They use the same date stamp on all products, so any gun made in those years will be stamped the same.
