Remington 700 adl vs. sps

Several years ago, the ADL was better finished and around 1980, had a very nice machine-checkered stock and nicely-polished metal. I have one and it's been a really great rifle.

I like not having a floorplate or removable magazine because the stock is stiffer, but mostly because it carries one-handed better...especially during cold weather, since wood doesn't transfer heat/cold like metal.

It is also worth noting that often, the ADL configuration can be more accurate ''right out of the box'' than the others, as the stock is stiffer and more stable, having no huge hole to accommodate the magazine floorplate. This tends to be especially true with the plastic-stocked rifles.

The ADL was always my favorite version of these rifles, for that reason.
