Remington 700 ADL in 30/06

Hello all,

I just bought a Remington 700 ADL in 30/06, with the synthetic stock and the black finish. I got it at the Hilliard gun show today, and only paid $325 for it.

I will put a mount, rings and a scope on this in the near future. I am excited about this, it's what I've wanted for a while.

I know some folks will tell me I should have got it in .308, and there is a certain degree of truth to that. There is easy availability of the ammunition in .308, and there may well be a slight advantage in accuracy at long range. However, I am used to loading the 30/06, and for what I want I think this was the best choice.

I like the look and feel of the Remington 700.

I too have a Remington 700 ADL chambered in .30-06. (Mine has the walnut stock.)
I purposely bought mine in .30-06 and I don't regret it. Although my shoulder takes a hell of a beating because of the lack of a recoil pad.
I think the Remington ADL is a great choice if one is buying a bolt rifle. The cost is reasonable and you are getting the quality and feel of a Remington which is pretty high IMHO.

kgs, Mr. Pachmyr has a solution to your sholder-problem. If you have a friend with a 1" belt-sander, it's a piece of cake to get all fixed up. Protect the wood with some masking tape, and don't be in a hurry...

I like the rubber slip on Pachmyrs I keep one in my range box so it doesn't make any difference which rifle I am using. The strange thing is that my Rem 700/270win kicks more than my 30-06 custom with a steel skeleton but plate. I only use a recoil pad at the bench. Along with a 26" barrel it keeps me from developing a flinch. Muzzle blast can be as bad as recoil in developing a flinch. You never notice the recoil hunting. A friend of mine uses a 7mm Rem Mag. and every deer he has shot has been through the guts or hams. I know he closes his eyes when he pulls the trigger on the "master blaster". I handed him back his rifle to shot one day with an empty chamber to check his flinch....nice one.His brother uses a custom .243 win. with a 100gr Hornaday round nose and makes good clean kills.:)
