Remington 700 30-06 conversion to 375 RUM

First things first...I think it's possible but am I misinformed?

This is what I have..

1. I have a Remington 700 ADL in 30-06 with a bad barrel I am looking to do something with.

2. I have a 375 RUM takeoff barrel from a Remington 700. Coincidence??? Yes, but what a wonderful coincidence.

3. I have a buddy with a Remington 700 bolt from a 300 RUM that he is looking to get rid of.

Can I make use of these 3 components to build a 375 Ultra Mag?

From what I can tell the answer is yes, as long as I replace the magazine box (and maybe the follower).

thoughts?

The bottom of the receivers for the Ultra mags are milled differently then they are for the 30-06 size magazines. You would have to get Ultra Mag magazine and bottom metal.
So to answer your question "can use use what you have?" Yes ----- but only at the expense of a lot of time and labor (which may mean money, if you don't own a mill) and I personally do not think it will be worth the end result. But if you don't mind tinkering with it, you can do it and make it work

I see...

So I guess I never noticed that they don't make RUMs in the ADL. Thanks for the info. I will see what I can come up with.

So, is a 700 bolt, a 700 bolt?
Savage uses a floating bolt face.
With a Remington bolt swap, would you have a difference in lug engagement?
