Remington 5R questions...

The stock on the one I was looking at in the gun shop had a rubbery feel to it. Felt something like a Hogue overmold design. Are they made by Hogue? The bolt looked and felt sub-par at best. It felt light and stuck when cycling back and forth. Is this rifle really worth the money?

Are you sure it was a 700 5R? They come with a HS stock such as the one on the 700PSS or 700p model. I've yet to read a bad review about the 5R. I own one, it shoots great. Had mine bedded into a McM A5

Blackops: Nice rig! Except for mine being in an AICS chassis I have the same set up as you. Try seating the 175's (SMK) a little deeper to 2.780 instead of 2.80. Seems these have long throats even for Remingtons and they like a little more jump into the lands. I was abled squeeze out a bit more accuracy. Shoots in the .3 MOA range pretty regularly now.

No I'm not! I was told that it was when I was comparing it to the Savage 10FCP with the 5R barrel. The manager was raving about the new Remigton stock. I asked if it was a Hogue and he said no, but very similar in texture and feel. It felt great, like it was glued to your hands. I'm going there tomorrow, I will take a picture and post it to this thread.

No reason to post a picture as it wasn't a 5R. Last stop at that shop!!! Went to another shop and looked at the real deal. Beautiful rifle!!! Will be my next bolt rifle purchased...:):D;)
