I drop way too many parts... Took apart the rear sight on my 597 and the spring fell and sprang away to some far away corner of the room... No big loss, I'm putting a scope on it anyway. But I saw a different rear sight on a 597 at the gun shop, I didn't look at it long but it was a few angled blocks of metal with adjustment screws. I'm not too familiar with that setup, is that the "new style" rear sight that Remington and various parts suppliers are now selling? The current rear sight on my rifle adjusts with a large screw with a detent click for elevation and a very small inset screw for windage. And as I mentioned, it doesn't work too well now with the spring missing. Also, has anyone seen a source for the scope mounting rail(it looks to be a M597 specific part) for full size scope mounts? I see it on the Remington web site, but I have not been able to find it for sale in the local stores or online anywhere. Not too important since I ordered a scope that mounts on the small rimfire rails, but it would be nice to be able to use my red dot sight that goes on 5/8" rails.
OK, one last question. How do I put a sling on the synthectic stock? Do I just use the regular wood screw studs, or is there something else available?
