remington 552 jams on last round. any tips?

Chip chip cheerio!

Good day to all you yanks, I'm coming to you from across the pond, the Atlantic that is, from jolly old England. I've been lucky enough to purchase one of your American firearms from back in the 60s, a remington 552 speedmaster. The old girl is quite lovely, quite a nice firearm, however I am having an issue with jamming. She only jams on the final round. If I put ten in the tube, they cycle fine, a few stovepipes here and there, and then on the final round the spent shell stays in the chamber. Happens half the time more or less. Any pointers from my American friends from whom this great firearm came would be much appreciated. Soccer is really fun, here we call it football. I like to play.

Hi, Roger,

The stovepipes here and there may be the clue. It shouldn't happen. Sounds like the extractor is not holding firm to the rim. It may need fitting by a competent smith.

Failure to extract on the last round could be coincidence.
