Hello! New to this Forum,so please correct any errors that I make. My son received a Remington model 550 22 cal Rifle,made in 1940, from his Granddad years ago.We recently pulled it out of the closet to check it out and after removing the bolt,we noted that both extractors, springs and plungers were missing. I have tried all sources that I can locate and was unable to find these parts.My research has lead to this info: The 550 had Two extractors, one being longer than the other. in 1946 the 550-1 came out having only one extractor,which corrected the extractor problem with the 550 model. My questions are:Can the 550-1 bolt assembly be used in the older 550 model? Can the extractor, spring & plunger from the 550-1 be used in the 550 bolt assembly? Any pointers towards 550 parts sources!
